We are not the experts in advising on the insurance, so these are common insurances take when moving into a house and no way a recommendation. Please choose the insurance you need based on your requirements or based on the advice of an expert.

Bills and Services

Following some common bills and services you may need to take when moving into a new house. This might be the same list of services you may need to cancel in your old house or move them along with you.
Service Details
Electricity and Gas If you are moving into a newly built house most of the builders leave an active connection with a few days of electricity and gas paid for in advance. You need to switch this over to your name or even a different provider if there is a better deal.
Water To our knowledge there is not much choice around who supplied water unlike the energy and gas so you may want to choose the one that is available in your area.
Broadband If you move into a new-build estate there is a good chance that your broadband options are limited. We recommend using the postcode availability checker of the broadband service provider to check the availability. It is a good idea to apply for the broadband at least 30 days before you move in so that there is sufficient time for the provider to activate the broadband before you move in. The broadband modem will be mailed to the new address so you may want to make sure there is someone to collect the kit when it arrives.
Council Tax If you are moving into a newly built house it may take few months before you get your first Council Tax bill and it could be a total sum of the months you have been living in the property. It will be a good idea to inform the council as soon as you move in and keeping some money aside each month until the council adds a band to your new home.
Recycle Bins Most of the new build houses should come with recyle bins but the one you might want to apply for is the green bin for the plant, grass and food waste.
Security System There are a number of security systems out there, even though this is not a must have services. If you need the piece of mind you can find service that monitor your home 24x7 or you can choose one that you can monitor yourself.
Exterior Window Cleaner If you are moving into a newly built house there is a good chance that you will get a knock on the door by some window cleaners.

Flooring We includes this as one items to do but based on your house and the type of flooring you need it can be split into few sub items. Based on whether you are carpeting the entire house or mixing it with hard flooring the time to do the flooring can change. Bathroom floor is another area you may want to consider different type of flooring to rest of the house. Based on the size of the house and the nature of the flooring the time to complete the flooring could vary but it should not take more than few days.
